List the following words and give a mathematical definition in your own words on your wikispace. Remember, you may edit your definitions after we begin the unit.
Quadratic Equation is a univariate polynomial equation of the second degree.
The common endpoint of two or more rays or line segments.
The x-intercept of a line is the point at which the line crosses the x axis.
The y-intercept of a line is the point at which the line crosses the y axis.
A increase is a increase in the greater numbers
A decrease is a decrease in the lower numbers
Maximum is the highest point or maximum value
Minimum is the lowest point or lowest value
Parabola: The intersection of a right circular conical surface and a plane parallel to a generating straight line of that surface.
    5.2
DIfference: A linear function has no exponent and the graph is a line while a quadratic function has an exponent of 2 and the graph is u-shaped. Also, a linear function has a constant rate a change and a quadratic does not.

Your friend throws the ball in the air, hitting the ball when it is 3 ft above the court with an initial velocity of 40 ft/sec. The height h(t) of the ball can be modeled by the function h(t) = -16t^2+40t+3, where t is the elapsed time in seconds after the dive.
What shape does the path of the tennis ball make while traveling in the air.
The tennis ball path goes straight down & has a semi-circle
Find h(1). Describe what h(1) means in the context of the problem
    h(1)=27 and the initial height
What is the y-intercept of h(t). In context, what does the y-intercept represent?
    ( 0,27) & it represets the height
Identify the vertex. Describe in context what the x-coordinate of the vertex represents. Describe in context what the y-coordinate of the vertex represents.
The vertex is 1.25, the x-coordinate of the vertex will be (28,0) The y-coordinate is the initial velocity
What is the x-intercept(s) of h(t). In context what does the x-intercept(s) represent?
The vertex will be 1.25, the x-coordinate of the vertex represents will (28,0) The y-coordinate is the initial velocity
What is the x-intercept(s) of h(t). In context what does the x-intercept(s) represent?
x-intercept of h(t) will be 2.3 because thats were it's crossed at, x reps the dropping of the ball*

    1.1:
List the math classes you have taken during high school. Write a few sentences describing your feelings toward math and why - either a good experience or a bad one. Think about what type of learner you are describe the best methods teachers use to help you understand the topics. Please describe your goals after this year - do you need this class to graduate and you are a senior, are you here for MCAS reasons, or what math class or classes do you plan on taking next year?
    ...
    1.2:
Look at the following, which is an example that has been worked out step by step. Explain in full sentences each step that was taken in the problem and why that step was chosen. Be clear about the step you are looking at, for example "going from line 1 to line 2, ..." All these steps should be written in your online journal.
    Answer:
    1st step: Multiply the numerals
2nd step: Put the whole equation in in close points with 10 outside the parentheses to multiply.
3rd step: Distribute everything by 10.
4th step: Subtract 6x from both sides, forgetting the 6x.
5th step: sSbtract 40 from both sides, canceling out the 40.
6th step: Divide -1 from both sides, leaving out the -1x.
7th step: Plug in 60 to the variable x so you can check if your correct.
    8th step: Multiply 60 x .5 and and multiply 60 x .6 then subtract 2.
9th step: Both sides should be equal.
    1.3: f (x) = -5 - 4/3x
    -5
    1.33 etc
    4/3x
The y-intrecept is the where the point meet on the y-axis & it's
    (0,-5)
    Summary:
The linear function is a negative cooralation
The input determines the value of the output
Didnt't find the x-intercept just yet

    Answer:
Sophmore year - Ms.So , She was an alright teacher , I just didn't lik ethe way she expexcted us as a class to already know the material so it was hard getting work & not being explained how to do it .
Junior year - Ms.Daniels , The best teacher that Malden High has ever hired to teach student the material of math. She's fun , loud , sacarstic & get's you on track when you of topic! Anothrt thing is the way she teaches is if one student doesn't know the work & the whole already understands , she will not move on til the whole class knows what thier doing
Senior year - Ms.Rogawizts , Sarcastic & I can understand the humor she encounters . The year has just begun & i'm looking forward to a good year ! I mean it is Senior Year !!!!!!!!!!
